Licensing
With the 2006 version of Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006, there is a new 25 processor license offering. This offering is aimed at branch office scenario and include 25 processor licenses of ISA Server Enterprise Edition at 50% discount per processor as compared to the regular Enterprise Edition prices. Going forward there will be three broad Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server categories:
- ISA Server Standard Edition single processor license
- ISA Server Enterprise Edition single processor license
- ISA Server Enterprise Edition 25 processor license

System Requirements
You will need the following minimum system configuration to use Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006 Standard or Enterprise Edition:
- PC with a 733 MHz Pentium III or higher processor
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard or Enterprise Edition, Microsoft Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server with Service Pack 4 (SP4) or later, or Windows 2000 Datacenter Server (Note: for ISA Server 2006 Enterprise Edition, Windows Server 2003 Standard or Enterprise Edition is required)
- 512 megabytes (MB) of RAM recommended
- NTFS-formatted local partition with 150 MB of available hard-disk space; additional space will be required for Web cache content.
- Network adapter that is compatible with the computer's operating system for communication with the internal network; one additional network adapter, modem, or ISDN adapter for each additional network connected to the ISA Server computer
- One additional network adapter is required for intra-array communications for ISA Server 2006 Enterprise Edition integrated NLB
- CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
- VGA or higher-resolution monitor
- Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
Notes:
- If ISA Server 2006 Standard Edition is installed on a Windows 2000 Server operating system, you must install Windows 2000 SP4 or later and Internet Explorer 6 or later.
- If you are running Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server with Windows 2000 SP4, you must install the hotfix specified in article 821887 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.
- Additional hotfixes may also be recommended. We recommend that all customers deploy current security implementation best practices as outlined at the Microsoft TechNet Security Center.
- ISA Server 2006 Standard Edition supports up to four CPUs on one server.
- Actual system requirements will vary based on your deployment configuration, expected load, and the features you choose to install.
