Business Scorecard Manager is a comprehensive scorecard and dashboard application that provides employees with deep contextual insight into business drivers. ISVs and SIs can extend Microsoft Office Business Scorecard Manager 2005 by adding their SharePoint-based analysis tools as the insight tool for KPIs. ISVs have different types of data visualization and charts that can be put into the context of a scorecard.

Licensing
The Business Scorecard Manager 2005 licensing model consists of a Server License and Client Access Licenses (CALs) and is designed to scale your costs in relation to your use.
- Each server on which Business Scorecard Manager 2005 is deployed requires a license.
- A CAL is required for every user or device that accesses the server.
- The External Connector License enables an unlimited number of non-employees to access Business Scorecard Manager 2005 without any technical limitations or restrictions. This license may be obtained for every server that provides services to non-employees. A non-employee is a person who is not an employee, or similar personnel of the company or its affiliates, not any individual to whom you provide hosted services using the server software.

The following is a list of the software requirements for server computers that are used in a Business Scorecard Manager deployment as well as the minimum hardware requirements for all server computers that are used in a Business Scorecard Manager deployment. Depending on your data storage and performance requirements, you may need faster processors, more memory, or more hard disk space.
- Intel Pentium-compatible, 700 MHz computer
- 512 MB RAM
- 585 MB available hard disk space
Required software:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with the latest software updates
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000 with Service Pack 4 (SP4)
- Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0
- Microsoft ASP.NET 1.1
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services with SP4 - required if OLAP cubes hosted by Analysis Services will be used to generate key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Microsoft OLE DB Provider for OLAP Services (MSOLAP) 8.0
- SQLXML 3.0 SP3
- Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services or Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003 - required to use Web Parts, optional for a SQL Server Reporting Services-only installation.

- 128 MB RAM
- 100 MB available hard disk space
Required software:
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 (SP2)
- Internet Explorer 5.5 or Internet Explorer 6.0 (Internet Explorer 6.0 is included in all Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP operating systems.)
- Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
- Microsoft Office System 2003 with Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components - required to use PivotTable, PivotChart, or spreadsheet report views.
Client computer requirements
The following is a list of the software prerequisites for all client computers that are used in a Business Scorecard Manager deployment as well as the minimum hardware requirements for all client computers that are used in a Business Scorecard Manager deployment. Depending on your data storage and performance requirements, you may need faster processors, more memory, or more hard disk space. Client computers include those computers that will be used to view and interact with scorecards on a Windows SharePoint Services-based or SharePoint Portal Server-based Web site.
